360 ° MOUNTAIN PROFESSIONAL
Born in the 1990s, François Cazzanelli is a son of art: the surname of his father’s family, Cazzanelli, and that of his mother’s family, Maquignaz, have been inextricably linked for more than a century to the profession of Alpine Guide and mountaineering for five generations.
From 2009 to 2011 he was part of the Italian national ski mountaineering team and currently continues to compete in the most important international long-distance competitions.
Since 2012 he has been a member of the Cervino Guide Society. From September 2011 to 2016 he was part of the “High Mountain Military Section of the Army Sports Center of Courmayeur”.
He has repeated and opened several routes on Mont Blanc, Matterhorn and Monte Rosa.
The beginning of 2020 sees him as the protagonist of several exceptional exploits on his home mountains: the opening of new routes ( Goulotte Daricou-Morano , Monte Roisette 3334 m, west face), the concatenation, in the season colder than all the peaks of the continuous ridge that unites some of the main mountain massifs of Valtournenche: the Furggen chain , the Matterhorn , the Grandes Murailles strong> and the Petites Murailles. An intense project of pure winter mountaineering, completed in just 4 days (from 20 to 23 January). Between July and August, together with Franesco Ratti, he marks the summer repetition of the “Triptych” by Freney which was by Renato Casarotto (from 29 July to 1 August).
In June 2020, together with Matteo Della Bordella, president of the Ragni di Lecco , Cazzanelli and Francesco Ratti, both Guide del Cervino , opened a new route that runs central on the Red Pillar of Brouillard (Mont Blanc) which they called “Incroyable”: a route of 8 pitches, for a development of about 290 meters and with a maximum degree of difficulty of 8A and an obligatory difficulty by 7B .
Also in the mountains of his home, in 2018, he lowered the speed record of the 4 Matterhorn ridges paired with Andreas Steindl to 16 hours and 4 minutes; and a new route has also been opened on the Matterhorn, named “Diretta allo Scudo” . on 19 July 2019, he completed the ascent of Mont Blanc, in a roped party, via the integral of the Peuterey Crest strong>, in 15 hours 55 minutes.
