A GREAT PASSION IN A NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
At 1,000 meters above sea level right along the Via Francigena, in the heart of the Aosta Valley, our beer takes shape, in the presence of the highest rock giants in all of Europe: Grand Combin, Mont Blanc, Gran Paradiso, Monte Rosa, Matterhorne .
We carefully select every single ingredient for a constant and continuous improvement of our products, all enriched by pure and uncontaminated water.
A water that flows directly from the top of the Alps.
“The more you take care of the beer, the better it turns out. This makes the difference ”.
The philosophy of Les Bières du Grand St. Bernard is all in the words of Rémy Charbonnier and Stefano Collé: a great passion for beer, attention to every detail, in-depth selection of ingredients. And then a natural environment, that of the Alps, ideal above all for the production of lagers with a fermentation and long maturation ideal at low temperatures.
OUR HISTORY
Everything comes from a great passion for beer, from the desire to experiment, from the desire to transform a simple hobby into something more concrete. In 2010, in Etroubles in a small 300m2 workshop, production of Les Bières du Grand St. Bernard begins. In July 2010, the sale of the first beers starts: Napea, Balance and Amy, which are still the flagship labels of the brewery today.
In 2017, also thanks to the excellent results achieved, Rémy and Stefano relaunch their project and give life to a development that brings the new headquarters to Gignod (a few kilometers further downstream from Etroubles) while remaining faithful to the Gran San Bernardo Valley.
The structure, over 4.000m2, houses a brand new and technological 35hl production plant, with an annual production capacity of 8.000hl, a sales and exhibition area open to the public (nearing completion), an office area and a large area parking area. All this is completed by a truly strategic position along the state road to access the Gran San Bernardo pass that connects Italy and Switzerland.
CONCEPT
The philosophy of our brewery is contained in the meaning of the brand that represents the union and balance between Nature and Man.
Two infinities that, when they meet, give life to our beer by revolving around four fixed points which are the raw materials: pure mountain water, cereals, hops and yeast.
The same balance that we seek in the human relationship with our partners, to build profitable and lasting relationships.
PRODUCTION
We produce high quality craft beers in our Gignod’s brewery in the Aosta Valley, located at about 1,000m above sea level, straight “from the top of the Alps”. The new facility, operational since June 2017, with over 4500 m2, houses a brand new production plant of 35 hl per batch, with an annual production capacity of 8,000 hl.
From October 2017, in addition to the bottling and keg lines, the new line for can packaging also went into operation.
The brewery also carries out processing for THIRD PARTIES.
THE INGREDIENTS
Water
Our beers have an extraordinary basic ingredient. It is the water of the Gran San Bernardo Valley. It takes little to describe it: it is pure, contains very few dissolved salts and flows directly from the top of the Alps, in the Aosta Valley.
Hop
We mainly buy it from the Halertau and Tettnang regions in Lower Bavaria. The other hops used for our production are English, American, Slovenian and Belgian.
Malt
we mainly buy German malt, but also English, Italian, Belgian and French, as each geographical area best expresses particular types of malt necessary to create the most particular nuances of taste.
Yeast
Each yeast has particular characteristics to give each individual beer different tastes and nuances.
LOCAL INGREDIENTS
Génépy
To give our GNP beer an all-Valle d’Aosta flavor we only use native varieties grown exclusively in our small mountain region.
